This is a "NO HIT BODY"! All the original bonding strips are present and it does not show any signs of being in an accident. The Lacquer paint on this coupe is "Silver Pearl," the correct "986" code for this car. It could be original, but I'm thinking it was repainted once in the late 70's or early 80's. It's not perfect but it still looks pretty good. There are a few stress cracks in the paint which are common with most Corvettes. There are also some very small chips that were properly touched up at one time. There are also a few spider web cracks and some small areas do show some "checking" in the paint. You must be looking for them to notice most of these minor problem areas. The gaps between the panels are nice. (Which is also hard to find on these Corvettes.) Both doors are aligned and close with ease, no sagging doors on this C2. The top portion of all four of the fiberglass wheel opening lips have been removed. You can't tell by looking at the car, you need to feel with your hand inside the wheel lip opening. (I'm sure this was done back in the drag racing days.) The fiberglass lip around the engine compartment is also very nice.
The engine compartment was just cleaned and highly detailed. Everything in this engine compartment was removed cleaned or painted and then reinstalled. All new hoses, belts, vacuum lines, spark plugs, ignition wires along with the fluids. Everything is correct, right down to the bolts, decals, hose clamps, and paint colors for all the parts. Being that this is a "Radio Delete" car, it did not receive any chrome shielding over the distributor. The spark plug wires also do not have the braided outer shielding. The factory air cleaner, fan shroud, and the heat shields around the spark plugs are all present. It has a new battery along with two new battery cables. The factory K66 Transistorized Ignition setup is installed and working. Every connection on the wiring harness was checked, cleaned, and tested. The wiring harness was also rewrapped with the correct black vinyl tape. The Transistorized Ignition (TI) wiring harness has the correct cloth tape as well.
INTERIOR:
The interior is very nice. The correct "STD" coded black vinyl is still present. The original seat covers, door panels, and headliner are all in great shape. The original black vinyl dash pads are perfect without any cracks or splits. The two front pieces of carpet where replace because of wear. The remaining carpet was cleaned and dyed to match the two new front pieces. The original seat belts are in great shape and still have the correct tags stitched onto them. The instrument cluster was removed and detailed. At that time, all of the gauges where checked and re-calibrated and are working great. All of the trim inside the car is also very nice. The chrome knobs and dash parts do not show any pitting or problems. The black paint on the chrome console trim is in great condition without any chips or nicks. The steering wheel is almost perfect a looks almost new. The telescopic steering wheel, wipers, lights, gauges, horns, factory clock, tachometer, speedometer, odometer, along with the trip odometer are all working fine. Remember, this car was ordered without a radio. (The only sound that can be heard is the sweat sound of the side exhaust of a big block!) A roll bar was bolted to the frame of the car when it was new. It is wrapped with foam and black vinyl to match the interior. It was done very well. I kept the roll bar install to preserve the history of the car. The felt liner in the glove box is very nice. It is sporting the original owner's manual and owner's protection plan booklet. They are both still in the clear plastic owner's manual bag. The tire pressure label is still present on the door of the glove box.
